Breakfast (served 7.00am to 10.30am; after 10.30am, fruit and cereals available):
Breakfast is served in the main area of A La Belle (our proprietor) dining area and includes everything from fresh fruit and various grains, to hot foods and traditional breakfast options.

Lunch (served 12.00 to 2.00pm):
A casual affair served after guests return from the morning surf or fishing session. Lunch options will include hearty, nourishing, fresh proteins with abundant sides.

Sunset Bar Snacks:
One of our favorite ways to wind-down after a day of adventure is to enjoy fresh seafood snacks around sunset drinks time, or when guests return from the last surf or fishing session; all fresh from the local fishermen. Nothing tastes better than a snack and a cold beer after a day charging the waves or hauling in Bonefish.

Dinner (served 7.00pm to late):
A sit-down affair and highlight of the day. Dinners will surprise and delight your taste buds and take you on an adventure through the regional influences of our chef and his team.

Dessert:
Our desserts are hand-prepared from fresh, local ingredients. The selection depends on what is available at local markets on the island.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

TRAVEL

What is the general health & safety situation in Kiribati?
Fanning Island is one of the safest travel destinations in the world, boasting a low crime rate (there are so few people on the island, its virtually non-existent), no terrorist activity, and very few diseases to worry about. However, we still recommend that you apply the same common sense approach to your health and safety as you would at home, by not leaving valuables unattended, and investing in both travel insurance and a basic travel first aid kit.

What documents do I need to take?

  • A passport with at least six months of validity remaining and one other form of identification.
  • Visitors to Kiribati are not required to obtain an entry permit for stays of less than 60 days. Visitors must have a return or onward ticket and passports must be valid for six months or more at the time of entry into the country.
  • Travel insurance information.
  • In case you misplace any vital documents you should also carry a back-up photocopy of your passport, I.D, and airline ticket with you at all times. It doesn’t hurt to leave another copy at home as well!

Is Cash Accepted at Fanning Island Resort?
No, cash is not accepted on site. Please plan to pay all final charges via credit card or bank transfer. All bills must be settled prior to departure. Fanning Island Resort accepts only Visa and MasterCard. You may wish to have a small amount of cash on hand in Kiribati Dollars or Australian Dollars (both circulate within the country) or credit card for personal telephone calls, additional meals, snacks & drinks in transit or transit accommodation.

Do I have to pay a departure tax?
Yes. Kiribati charges a $20 AUD departure tax.

It depends. If you are coming from a country that has a history of Yellow Fever, you will be required to receive a vaccine prior to entry. Hepatitis A and Typhoid shots are suggested, but not compulsory, and are mainly inteded for areas with poor sanitation (our Resort is not one of them).
