The Telo Islands, Indonesia
Telo Island Lodge Surf Report
Jul 20, 2015
It has been an epic few days in the Telo Islands with a good mix of sessions at various breaks for guests of the lodge!
Yesterday morning (19/07/15), we kicked off with our favourite swell magnets, “Schoolyards" and “Kindies”, arriving to empty lineups at both breaks and perfectly groomed waves rolling through on each peak. “Schoolyards" was a good 4 to 6 feet with the occasional bomb 8 footer and Kindies was consistent 3 to 5 feet. The guests were frothing to split the two breaks so we anchored up between and had 4 guests on each break… the perfect scenario. A few heartbeats increased and comfort zones were left, but froth levels were at an all-time high and stayed there till the midday break!
Lunch back at the lodge was in the undercover area of the board shack (which is hardly a shack and more a pavilion), and entertainment was “Max’s right" rifling off in the front yard. After the obligatory quick siesta to sleep off lunch, some guests opted to make the most of the perfection in the front yard and proceeded to exchange waves till “Beer O’Clock". The rest of the guests opted for a change of pace from the mornings adventure and found a fun easy arvo session at “Pinnacles", having blast on the 3 to 4 foot walls while our photographer captured them in front of the iconic pinnacle. The Bintangs went down easy in the arvo watching the final day of J-Bay WSL event stream live, and everyone is still in disbelief after watching Mick Fanning have a close encounter with a great white.
Today's session was very similar to yesterday's with two breaks for 8 guests and surf in the 3- 6 foot range in perfect off-shores.
As always, another great day in the Telo Islands.
